Carol Howard, who works as a lowly clerk, lives in London. Gloucester Terrace W2, looking north from the Chilworth Street junction. The now-demolished Holy Trinity church can be seen in the distance.
The spire of Holy Trinity, on Bishop's Bridge Road, was demolished in 1972 with the rest razed in 1984. SJ

Carol finds she has won the French lottery and heads off to Paris. The "Isle of Thanet" was a a Southern Railway cross-Channel ferry that was running between Folkestone and Boulogne at time of filming. It was scrapped in 1964.

Carol meets and falls in love with the suave Gerald Lovell (Basil Rathbone). Place de la Concorde, Paris, is in the back projection, but their feet are firmly planted in Denham Studios.
