Monsieur Delassalle, the cruel headmaster of a boys boarding school outside of Paris, is so despised by the two women closest to him, his wife and his mistress, that they enact a plot to kill him. Lured from the school he is drowned and his body dumped back in the school swimming pool. The body subsequently disappears, followed by several apparent sightings of him.
