The production opens with a flight over Grimsby Docks. Below is the combined New Dock and Number 1 Fish Dock in Grimsby, Lincolnshire with the West Quay and graving docks to the upper right and the covered Fish Market curving away to bottom right.

With the fishing fleet is out at work in the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean, the docks and quays lie empty. Looking across Number 1 Fish Dock to the Fish Market on the quayside that runs alongside Wharncliffe Road South and Wharncliffe Road North.

While skipper John Arkell and the Crew of the Steam Trawler 'Albatross' are rescuing Jeremy Bowker who has spent three days in a lifeboat, the fish markets stand deserted, waiting for the fleet to return. This is the Fish Market in Number 2 Fish Dock.

Returning to port, John Arkell (Roy Emerton) and his Crew lead Bowker ashore. North Quay with the 1854 Grimsby Dock Tower, a hydraulic accumulator tower at the entrance to Royal Dock, in the right background and the shorter 1892 hydraulic accumulator tower beyond.

Bowker falls for John Arkell's daughter Ann and joins the crew of the ST 'Albatross' before the next fishing trip to the coast of Norway beyond the Arctic Circle.

Crates of fish are topped up with ice before being loaded into railway wagons which are made up into trains destined for all parts of the country. Aukland Road seen from the Fish Market alongside Number 2 Fish Dock.

With no time to lose, a locomotive hauls its train from the docks. The level crossing where Rowlandson Street, Pollitt Street, Fish Dock Road and Murray Street meet. Riby Street platform was beyond the footbridge, out of view to the right. Jonathan Horswell's Railway Movie Database identifies the engine as LNER K3 Class 2-6-0 No. 206.

Bowker accompanies John Arkell's brother Fergus and his daughter Margaret as they make their way to the dock to view his new trawler, the 'Glory Be'. The vessel is the 1934 built GY106 Leicester City operated by Consolidated Fisheries Ltd. Grimsby.
