After Mr. Piper is driven away in his Standard Vanguard, garage owner Mr. Crossington (Humphrey Kent) closes the door to his workshop.

With repairs made to Mr. Piper's motorcycle, Mr. Crossington tells mechanic Peter Butterworth (Himself) that it must be delivered by 5 o'clock.

After Mr. Crossington steps into the inspection pit, Butterworth rides the Brockhouse Corgi from the workshop.

As the time approaches 5 o'clock, on the road outside his country house Mr. Piper (Lloyd Pearson) looks for his motorcycle.

Butterworth approaches a level crossing where the Crossing Keeper is closing the gates to road traffic. Looking westward along Mill Road at Barcombe Mills in Sussex with the Station Inn to the left.

Coming to a stand, Butterworth signals to the Crossing Keeper that he's in a hurry to get to Piper Manor. Mill Road, now Barcombe Mills Road at Barcombe Mills.

Securing the gates, the Crossing Keeper eyes Butterworth suspiciously before walking to the signal box. Looking eastward across the level crossing with properties on Mill Road in the left background.

After asking if the gates can be opened just a bit to let him through, Butterworth wheels the motorcycle to the pedestrian gate. Facing Barcombe Mills signal box on the line running between Lewes and Uckfield.

A sign is ignored as Butterworth squeezes through the gate with the Corgi. The railway through Barcombe Mills opened in 1858 with the station originally named Barcombe.

As the motorcycle is wheeled onto the crossing, the wheels get stuck in the track. To the left lies the platform of Barcombe Mills station. The station and line closed in 1969 with the track being removed in 1970.

As he attempts to pull the motorcycle free, a whistle makes Butterworth look up to see a train heading towards him.

Freeing the Corgi just in time, the train passes and the Crossing Keeper comes out of the signal box. Facing the signal box at Barcombe Mills where Mill Road crosses the railway.

Checking his pocket watch, Butterworth pulls down his bowler and leans towards the crossbar in an effort to gain speed.

Passing through a ford, the Corgi's engine stutters and stops.
