Storyline:

Twenty years after being evacuated to America, Paul Mathry returns to Liverpool for a short visit. He is shocked to find that his father, whom he believed had died a war hero, is in fact in jail for a murder committed at the time Paul left. Starting to piece those events together, he comes to suspect his father may be innocent.

Newspaper seller - distinctive building housing the row of shops. High Street, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, looking southeast from the junction with Ashley Road. The view is remarkably unchanged today. (SR) Upon watching the film, Alan Sawden was reminded that the store on the corner with the writing on it was a W H Cullen. Back in the 90s he was in the shop and also there shopping was Bruce Welch of the Shadows who lived locally. It is still a grocers, he says, with a small cafe. (RL)
