Simon Edwards spotted that the tree, could be a silver birch, to the right of the road has, not surprisingly, grown to a good extent.

But, in this film somewhere . . . . . . . the pair suggest that they are in South London.

Martin McNally advises that this is Salisbury Road, Barnet in North London.

Andrew Hutchings and his wife ventured to Barnet to gather this and the following comparisons shots.

Whilst taking his shots, Andrew Hutchings was approached by, Jenny, one of the householders who explained that she was living at the house when the film was being made. She recalled Bill Maynard playing on their family's piano and teaching her, then very young, son how to play numerous card games. Jenny also recalled that the film crew ordered prodigious amounts of food from the local cafés and bakeries, much of which the family ate!

Apart from the grass verge being removed, Simon Edwards found very little difference from 1975.

A council estate, somewhere. No, Shell Rubin recognises this as the rear, no pun intended, of Elstree House, now demolished, in front of Elstree Studios, Shenley Road. As he says, it no doubt allowed a degree of privacy for filming. (RL)

The Civic Hall was demolished and the site is now occupied by The Venue leisure centre and an Ibis hotel.

This is the Studio 70 cinema at the corner of Brook Road and Shenley Road in Borehamwood identified by Eric Parsons who adds "It was right opposite the film studio and was demolished in 1982. There is now a block of flats on the site."
