Czech-speaking Nicholas enters the building. Prince Consort House on Albert Embankment, London SE1, located by SJ, more of which was seen in 'A Pair of Briefs'.

After being told to attend an interview for a trainee executive in a glassware company, Nicholas makes his way to see Colonel Cunliffe. Black Prince Road at the junction with Lambeth High Street in SE1. The location shows the old Doulton building, the outside of which is decorated with many of their products.

An unsuspecting Nicholas returns to the office with his suitcase packed after getting the 'job'. Lambeth High Street, London SE1. Just across road, behind us in the photo, is or was Lambeth Dock, where residents of Lambeth were allowed to freely unload their barges . . . . . . once upon a time.

In fact this market square is not visible from fictitious Hotel Slovenska.

Nicholas checks out the scenery from his hotel room before being handed a note by Josef the Floor Waiter. Actually, Manuel tells us, Dirk Bogarde is looking from the first floor balustrade terrace of the Palazzo della Ragione, one of Padua's landmark buildings, over Piazza delle Erbe towards Via San Canziano.

Vlasta returns from the pool. Žlutá Plovárna is a recreational centre sited in Mala Skala near Liberec to the north east of Prague.

After spending the night with Vlasta, Nicholas returns to Prague. Manuel Gurtner identifies that the 1956 Fiat 1400 cab is passing the Piazza del Duomo in front of Padua's Basilica Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, while on the left side the colonnades of the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà are visible.

Nicholas' taxi collides with a Milkman (Tiberio Mitri) outside the British Embassy. Manuel found the pedestrian crossing in front of the archway to the Corte Arco Valaresso.

A new driver is appointed when Vlasta is taken of her assignment. Piazza dei Signori, Padua.

Nicholas returns from the glass works where he realises that he is involved in espionage after meeting his contact. Unknown location.

Nicholas goes to the fairground to meet Vlasta. Manuel Gurtner identifies this as Padua's impressive Prato della Valle, the largest elliptical square in Italy and one of the largest in Europe, with the surrounding buildings in the eastern corner towards Via Alberto Cavalletto.

Nicholas walks from the hotel disguised as a floor waiter after eluding the security services who arrive to question him. Unknown location.

The wanted man crosses the street at the Piazza Insurrezione 28 Aprile towards the corner of Via Baiamonti and Via Martiri della Libertà. Manuel continues that this is where, at the end of the street, the then brandnew skyscraper, called Grattacielo Europa, can be recognised.

Nicholas finds a call box and contacts the British Embassy. Manuel locates this as the eastern edge of the Piazza Insurrezione 28 Aprile.

Now dressed as a plumber, Nicholas waits for Vlasta in a street cafe. Manuel explains that Dirk Bogarde is sitting at the northern edge of the Prato della Valle, close to the corner with Via Umbero I, from where in the distance the Basilica di Santa Giustina can be seen.

Nicholas makes his way to Žlutá Plovárna where he changes clothes once more. No not this outfit . . . . the next one.

This is the new outfit worn by Nicholas as he returns to Prague. Dirk Bogarde is standing at the Via Beato Luca Belludi, while in the distance the Basilica di Sant'Antonio can be recognised. Location found by Manuel.

It's 6am the following morning and agents watch as the Milkman approaches the Embassy. Manuel Gurtner located the colonnades of the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà.

After overpowering the Milkman and taking his place, Nicholas finally gains access to the British Embassy. Again, says Manuel, at the inner yard of the Corte Arco Valaresso.

Nicholas finds the inner gates locked.

When the gates are opened electronically Nicholas makes a run for the doors. Manuel Gurtner advises that these are the steps to Padua's Scuola Primaria "Reggia dei Carraresi".

Nicholas desperately tries the main doors as agents call him back.

Colonel Cunliffe takes Nicholas to the airport where, coincidentally, Simoneva is seeing his daughter off to start a job in England. Jonathan Lingham notes that the car is a top-of-the-range straight eight Daimler which fell disrepair in the years after filming.
