A house in Essex, Little Baddow is suggested as the location. The film also had another title, "The House on Straw Hill". In reality the house is called "Gibbs" on Spring Elms Lane, Little Baddow, Essex, found by Paul Atkinson. (RL)

Phil Bacon provides this comparison adding "Hedge growth has all but obscured the house, but the little green ground level sign, which admittedly is difficult to read, confirms this is "Gibbs"."

Somewhere nearby. Could easily be the River Chelm. Paul Atkinson says that this is Church Road crossing the River Chelmer just south of Boreham, Essex. (RL)
