The atrocious weather continues as the Inspector and his assistant meet Captain Edwin Fraser inside the parlour of their guest house. Another stock shot? The beach at Rottingdean, viewed in the opposite direction to Capture 1. (SD)

An establishing shot of the cliff that Captain Fraser's car heads for at speed. Watergate Bay, Newquay, Cornwall. The two large rocks on the beach are named Zacry's Islands. (SD)

The Captain's car bursts into flames after falling from the cliff onto the beach. Are those a pair of forts in the distance? Watergate Bay, Newquay, with Towan Headland in the background. The two buildings are the Atlantic Hotel and the Headland Hotel. (SD)

Another few frames from the library? This is Hastings Pier in Sussex, also seen in 'The Dark Man' and 'Double Confession'. The pier was severely damaged by a storm in 1990, was closed between 1999 and 2002 and again from 2006 before being largely destroyed by a fire in 2010.
The pier has now been reconstructed and re-opened in April 2016. SD

After calling Scotland Yard when he sees Captain Fraser in the street, Sergeant Bingham waits for Inspector Hornleigh to arrive.
