If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

An establishing shot of Sydney Harbour. Sydney, New South Wales. To be precise, GWWD tells us were looking from Milsons Point towards Circular Quay and Sydney Opera House on Bennelong Point.

Taken from a similar position by GWWD who adds that Milsons Point Wharf was moved during redevelopment a few years ago.

Zoom to the AMP Building where Barry McKenzie is learning of a bequest in his dad's will. The AMP Centre, which today stands behind the AMP building, is here still under construction.

GWWD took this comparison shot of the AMP building along with its newer neighbours.

They arrive in the UK. The taxi from Heathrow takes the scenic route.

The camera follows the taxi as it passes.

Stonehenge, Wiltshire . . .

The stones haven't changed in such a short time, but the A344 north of Stonehenge has been closed and grassed over.

Bagpipes in the soundtrack, but the sign says M3. The M3 began at Basingstoke back then. This appears to be the southwestern end, where it originally linked to the A33.

Finally entering London, the taxi passes along Pembroke Street in N1.

The obviously run-down terrace has been replaced by these flats.

The location clue, and a momentary glimpse of Gifford Street. This terrace in Gifford Street also features in the video for 'Is This Love?' by Bob Marley; the video was filmed at the former Mission Hall, then the Keskidee centre, which would be just out of shot on the right.

This part of Gifford Street has survived, though the Mission Hall was badly damaged by fire in 2012 and subsequently demolished.

They arrive at Barry's mate's place. Regent Square WC1, looking east.

Now occupied by St. Peter's Court flats.

Barry (Barry Crocker) pays the eye-wateringly expensive taxi fare. View north, with Great Croft flats in Harrison Street WC1 visible behind Collis' Engineering works.

Great Croft is still there, but hidden by the more recent building.

A robust exchange of views with the departing taxi driver, as Barry's mate Curly (Paul Bertram) comes out of the building to join him.

The same location now.

The taxi leaves, with Auntie Edna (Barry Humphries) shouting instructions from the window. The view south on Regent Square.

The south side of Regent Square is largely unchanged.

As Barry gathers up his luggage, Curly explains that he'll be staying somewhere else. Regent Square WC1, which also features in 'Gumshoe'.

About here, I think.

Barry and Curly join the local expat Australian community at the pub. The King's Head in Hogarth Place SW5.

There were no infused gins in 1972.

With a hot date in prospect, Barry goes in search of an instruction manual.

Just as the sign says, 22 Noel Street W1.

He heads for an oriental food store, passing The Shakespeare, as it was then called, at 65 Westbourne Grove W2.

This pub has evidently undergone a series of name changes. Until recently known as 'No. 65 & King' it is now The Hayden.

Three doors down from the pub, Barry enters 'Asiatic Stores' in search of exotic ingredients.

Now a hardware store.

Suitably equipped, he makes his way to the lady's flat.

The junction of Palace Gardens Terrace and West Mall in Kensington W8.

He arrives at Broadwalk Court in W8.

The postman arrives at 'Broad Eaves', the home of Mr and Mrs Gort. Trout Rise, Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire.

A short while later, Barry and Auntie Edna arrive to visit.

  • 'Now' required

Barry has extricated himself from an embarrassing situation with the Gorts' daughter, and found a lift back to London with some hippies in a VW camper. Here they arrive in the outskirts of London. Without too much squinting, GWWD made out that the green sign to the top right is for the A40 towards London with the lower white one reading Uxbridge 1 Mile B467, which places the location at Swakeleys Roundabout at Uxbridge in Greater London.

The VW heads into London along a dual carriageway.

Further along. The presence of mainline rail and tube tracks here pin this down to the A40 at North Acton Junction in W3, looking east towards central London.

Barry leaves a mental institution. St Bartholomew's Hospital in EC1.

The Henry VIII gate in West Smithfield.

He passes St Paul's Cathedral in London EC4.

No scaffolding today, but an area fenced off for roadworks exactly where the correct viewpoint would have been.

Barry and Auntie Edna arrive at 'Radclyffe Hall'. IMDB identifies Hillgate Place.

Hillgate Place W8, looking very much the same today.

Barry and Lesley (Mary Anne Severne) sneak out to the pub. Marlborough Court W1.

Later, Barry is avoiding a detective. They slip into Barons Court tube station. Gliddon Road W14.

The detective (Dick Bentley) lurks.
