Assignment Redhead (aka Million Dollar Manhunt)

While a body (Major Carl Alexis Scammel) is about to be 'buried' in a ruined Berlin church by two men, the story moves to the US air force at Templehof Air Base, Berlin control room and discussions with regard to a flight to London and its awaited passengers. Centre of the Berlin Airlift of 1948-49 it closed to all operations on 30 October 2008 despite the efforts of some protestors to prevent closure. In the event it is now used as a recreational space known as 'Templehofer Feld'.

Major Gregory Keen (Richard Denning) an American assigned to British intelligence is assigned to meet with Major Carl Alexis Scammel, military intelligence, off the plane as he will "make for the War Office as soon as he lands". London Airport.

Finding that the arriving Scammel is an imposter, really Dumetrius (Ronald Adam), it is now essential that intelligence finds out what he looks like. Keen together with Sgt. Tom Coutts (Hugh Moxey) call on fellow passengers to see if they recall anything about this person. They call on Capt. Hank Godowski (Robert O'Neil) at his hotel, only to find him dead and fellow passenger Capt. Peter Ridgeway (Brian Worth) unconscious. Abercorn Place, St. John's Wood, London, NW8

Keen does not accept Ridgeway's story of events so Ridgeway makes a run for it. Ray Glenister has done some excellent research and found this to be Aubrey Place (formerly Abbey Gardens Mews), St. John's Wood, NW8. This much changed location exists at the western end of Abbey Gardens at Violet Hill. The property on the right still stands as does its corner short wall and railings.

Paul found little change during the past 16 years save for a bag of rubbish, a sign of the times?

They believe that they do indeed see him in a shop doorway but it certainly is not, it is Sally Jennings (Jan Holden). This looks like a set.

While Keen arranges to have Gloucester Road Underground station surrounded by the police, as Ridgeway has apparently to be there at 2 o'clock, a Standard Vanguard Phase ll with only a driver, slowly drives by. In fact this is some distance away, Foss House, Carlton Hill in the background.

As he does, the Standard Vanguard accelerates towards Hedy and knocks her over.

The Vanguard reaches the end of Carlton Hill and its junction with Hamilton Terrace.

OK, so this time the car should have been at the junction, but hey, at least aclear view.

And swings a very sharp left into Hamilton Terrace.

As much as anything, Paul seems to have captured a time line in keep left/right bollards.

Coutts is not far behind. Hamilton Terrace with the spire of St. Mark's Church visible.

Despite even more greenery Paul Lincoln was still able to include that church spire.

We see the Vanguard travelling south down Hamilton Terrace with the spire of St. Mark's barely visible behind the trees on the left....

The penalty of looking south on such a day Paul found, was that he was shooting into the sun light.

Paul Lincoln was in the correct spot but once again we see the difference in perspective between a film camera and a photographic lens.

The Vanguard driver takes a screeching left turn into Marlborough Place from Hamilton Terrace.

Paul found that the advancing years had just provided an increasingly pleasant corner.

A substantially greener scene now captured by Paul who found that the post box and the Presbyterian Church are both long gone.

They grab a cab and Keen persuades Sally to tell him where Ridgeway is, accepting that he was not responsible for the death of Hank Godowski. Piccadilly looking back to the Circus circa Glasshouse Street with the corner of what was then 'Swan and Edgar' department store behind the taxi.

But the cabbie is part of the imposters gang (quite how that worked we will pass over) so both he and Keen were pleased to learn where Ridgeway is taking shelter......"Dade Warehouse in East India Docks". Keen and Coutts visit, where they meet Mons. Paul Bonnet, a 'Citizen of France' who is also trying to find Dumetrius. In fact St. Katharine Docks, St. Katharine?s Way, London E1 looking south towards 'Irongate Wharf'.

Dumetrius is actually tracking down the whereabouts of £12m of forged American Dollars. In order to lay his hands on them he arranges for a motoring accident in which a double of the holder is killed. John Sparks points out the Hillman Minx Mark VIII convertible is also seen in 'Behind the Headlines'. Unknown location.

Dumetrius finds that he has been tricked and the money has been moved. M.I.5 finds out that the London Headquarters for the organisation that Dumetrius headed was a sanatorium at the films 'Fairview Road, Hampstead'. In fact, the building they are about to enter is, 'The Croft', also seen in 'Old Mother Riley Headmistress', it was part of the Studio complex now occupied by Hepworth Way and Wellington Close. However, the houses across the road are 36 and 38 Bridge Street, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey looking towards the houses in Manor Road.

Nick Boorman found that there's little of interest now.

Keen and Coutts go to investigate, but a knock on the door brings no response.

They go to the back of the house, where they enter to find Dr. Buchmann (Paul Hardtmuth) dead but a clue that Dumetrius and his men are in fact at 'Dade Warehouse, St. Katharine's Way, London E1 where events conclude, including the attendance of the 'Surrey Fire Brigade'!
