The film opens with a view of the Dorset coast where a Corporal is driving Captain Greer to the village of Pepperinge Eye. The Seven Sisters overlooking the English Channel on the Sussex coast between Seaford and Eastbourne. This view can also be seen in 'The Girl with a Pistol'.
August in the year 2025, after many years of coastal erosion. This is Birling Gap where the cliffs are receding by an average of 70cm each year. (SD)

Asking directions from an unhelpful Elderly Farmer who is painting out the names on a finger post, the Colonel orders the Corporal to drive on. The distant castle is based on Corfe Castle in Dorset.
