With the story's opening told on sets at Denham Studios, soon after the birth of a second girl to Charlie and Florrie Raeburn, their daughter Jenny Pearl dances in the street.

Years later, after becoming a ballet dancer, Jenny Pearl Raeburn (Sally Gray) is courted by artist Maurice Avery.

Time passes after Maurice leaves for Spain, until the day that widower Charlie Raeburn (Stanley Holloway) says farewell to his daughter and her husband Zachary Trewhella (Bernard Miles).

Above the beach one day, Maisie spots someone on the sand as Jenny dresses after bathing in the sea. The footpath that leads down to Pedn Vounder Beach, which appears in ' looking towards the Minack Theatre, a closer view of which can be seen in 1944's 'Love Story' as well as 'Naked as nature Intended'.
