Can you help:
If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.
We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.
- Capture 1
- 01 Oct 2017
The Acheson's Chauffeur steers the car into Terminus Place outside Victoria station in London SW1. The location is seen in many other films including 'Forbidden Cargo', 'Never Look Back', 'Somewhere on Leave', 'Two on the Tiles', 'Man From Tangier' and 'Robbery', which also stars Stanley Baker.
Peter found that we now need additional safety measures that we didn't have in the black & white days.
- Capture 2
- 01 Oct 2017
Charles brings the car to a stand and, dismissing him, Mrs. Acheson enters the station to meet Elizabeth Lorimer. Terminus Place with Buckingham Palace Road and Grosvenor Gardens in the background.
From a similar viewpoint, without the car, by Peter.

Not able to find the her niece, Evelyn Acheson (Phyllis Calvert) crosses the concourse towards a Ticket Collector. More of Victoria station in SW1.
- Capture 4
- 'Now' required
The Ticket Collector (Alfie Bass) advises that he has seen a child but tells Evelyn to obtain a platform ticket before she can pass through the gate.
- Capture 5
- 'Now' required
Evelyn finds Elizabeth Lorimer (Mandy Miller) near some crates of racing pigeons and the two take a taxi to the Acheson's house. Victoria station in London SW1.
- Capture 6
- 14 Aug 2018
Cassie (Dora Bryan) the Maid approaches as Evelyn and Elizabeth get out of the taxi. This is Clarence Terrace as it turns the corner into Sussex Place in NW1 as justified by the presently obscured background.

An architectural rethink. No2 at the other end of Clarence Terrace, with a blue plaque to Elizabeth Bowen, matches the original design. But this is the correct spot from Sussex Place. SJ

Elizabeth walks to the bus stop after leaving Professor Topolski's ballet class.
- Capture 8

Having discovered that his wife has been admitted to hospital, Stephen Lorimer (Stanley Baker) makes his way to London and surprises his daughter as she waits for her bus.
- Capture 9
- 12 Apr 2017
The two take a cab to the lodgings where Stephen is staying. The spire belongs to St. Augustine's Kilburn at the junction of Kilburn Park Road and Rudolph Road in NW6. Tris mentions that the church can also be seen in 'Three and Out'.
Best angle I could gain. SJ
- Capture 10
- 01 Jun 2021
The usually absent crook pays the cabbie as his daughter waits on the pavement. Rudolph Road in Maida Vale with The Pembroke public house in the right distance.

The roundabout marks roughly where the terrace on Rudolph starts with the Pembroke, long gone, replaced by modern building at 48 Kilburn Park Road. SJ

Cassie speaks with milkman Bert (Victor Maddern), whilst waiting for Elizabeth to arrive home. Looking from Sussex Place onto Outer Circle with Regent's Park beyond.

This replaces my inaccurate shot from December 2017. SJ
- Capture 12
- 14 Aug 2018
After saying hello to Cassie, the youngster heads to the front door. The address reads 12 Clarence Terrace, which was in Sussex Place off Outer Circle opposite Regent's Park, but there's no longer an entrance here.

A seemingly seamless transformation. This replaces an earlier shot. SJ
- Capture 13
- 19 Dec 2017
Aiming to call her father, Elizabeth runs across the road toward a telephone box. Outer Circle in NW1 with Baker Street in the right background.
Now with intact street architecture. SJ
- Capture 14
- 11 Apr 2017
Peter McNally (Christopher Toyne) recognises the young girl and talks with her as she waits to make her call. Across the seemingly barren Regent's Park can be seen the buildings of the Bedford College for Women.
And the college took men from the mid-60s, including me, and then it merged with Royal Holloway in the mid-80s. The site of Bedford College became Regent's College and is now Regent's University. SJ
- Capture 15
- 23 Sep 2016
Fretting about Elizabeth being late home, Cassie runs towards the telephone box. Clarence Gate of Regent's Park at the junction of Outer Circle and Baker Street NW1 with Clarence Terrace in the left background.
A similar shot was seen in 'I Thank You' and here's Peter's modern comparison of the location.
- Capture 16
- 02 Nov 2016
Elizabeth turns when she hears Cassie's calling. Facing south-east on Outer Circle.
Finding it hard to judge the right position without the prop phone-box in place, Peter took this shot.
- Capture 17
- 27 Oct 2016
An establishing view of the Princess Beatrice Hospital on Finborough Road SW10. The inside of the building featured in 'An American Werewolf in London'.
Peter visited the former hospital.
- Capture 18
- 27 Oct 2016
Stephen Lorimer looks over at the hospital where his wife is a patient. The hospital is now known as Princess Beatrice House and stands at the corner of Finborough Road and Old Brompton Road.
Another comparison by Peter.
- Capture 19
- 27 Oct 2016
Looking through a florist's window opposite the hospital, Stephen sees Elizabeth arrive with Henry Acheson (Eric Portman). Outside the shop runs Finborough Road.
Peter took this from a similar viewpoint.

Unsure that she should be helping, Cassie waits for a bus with Elizabeth as she sets out to search for her father.
- Capture 21
- 01 Jun 2021
After Cassie hails a cab, the the pair arrive in the street outside Stephen Lorimer's flat. To the left of centre is a better view of The Pembroke at the corner of Kilburn Park Road and Rudolph Road. The pub was closed and demolished in 1966.

Not much to compare nowadays. SJ
- Capture 22
- 01 Jun 2021
Cassie and Elizabeth run across the road to enter the boarding house. Except for St. Augustine's church, Rudolph Road NW6 has been completely redeveloped.

And this lies diagonally across the former lower part of Rudolph Road. SJ
- Capture 23
- 'Now' required
Leaving his daughter and Cassie in his room, Lorimer escapes through the back window when the police arrive. The view is of a former builders yard at the rear of properties on Rudolph Road, Kilburn Park Road and Carlton Vale.
- Capture 24
- 'Now' required
Detective Sergeant Taylor looks down from the apartment window as Constable Jennings (Bruce Beeby) reports that Lorimer has got away.
- Capture 25
- 01 Jun 2021
Having arrived at the scene, Evelyn looks along the street after Elizabeth runs from the building. Facing Carlton Vale from the southern end of Rudolph Road in NW6.

From the last vestige of Rudolph Road looking the same way towards Carlton Vale. SJ
- Capture 26
- 23 Apr 2018
Following a fruitless search of the area, Jennings returns to Lorimer's flat. Rudolph Road in Maida Vale, looking towards the junction with Kilburn Park Road.

Kenny Stuart has provided us with this shot of the northern part of Rudolph Road across Kilburn Park Road. The southern part of Rudolph Road no longer exists having been absorbed into a development of flats. St Augustines Church is to the right just out of frame. (RL)
- Capture 27
- 14 Aug 2018

This chronologically comes after capture 5 as we join milkman Maddern flirting with housekeeper Bryan.

And this allows us to see more of Sussex Place, NW1. SJ
- Capture 28
- 14 Aug 2018

Bryan helps herself to an extra bottle of milk.

Looking even further west along Sussex Place. SJ
- Capture 29
- 14 Aug 2018

She goes below stairs.

The building opposite is as was, though an early spring shot would make it clearer. SJ
