The coach carrying Harry Whitman and Father Tom draws near to the home of Lord and Lady Whitman. Grim's Dyke House, Old Redding, Harrow Weald in Greater London. Barry Howes recalls working as a chef at the property in the 1990s and tells us "The hotel was once the home of W. S. Gilbert who is said to haunt the house and I experienced some very bizarre events while worked there including knives going missing from locked drawers, items laid out in a neat row on the dressing table and sheets being pulled from the bed."

Worth a stay here: now run by Great Western Plus. SJ
