Whilst unpacking artwork, Robert Manning discovers a letter from his brother Peter saying that he is staying with J. D. Morley at Craxted Lodge.

When Morley advises that Peter Manning hasn't been seen, Robert heads for fictional Greymarsh. London Road in Shenley, Hertfordshire.
Julian Manhood found that the location has changed very little in the last 50 years.

Later that evening, Robert arrives at the remote Craxted Lodge. The house is Grim's Dyke, Old Redding in Harrow Weald, Middlesex.
A heavily used location in the 60s and 70s. See Cry of the Banshee for notes on the blue plaque. SJ

After meeting Morley and his niece at the lodge and discovering candlesticks acquired by Peter, Robert takes a walk through the private graveyard. In the background stands Grim's Dyke in Harrow Weald.
Quite hard to pinpoint. This angle from the south, I believe, matches the mock Tudor markings the best but I couldn't step further back to find the prop gravestones as the undergrowth has taken over. SJ

The next day, Morley's niece Eve (Virginia Wetherell) leaves the house. Grim's Dyke was also seen in 'Futtocks End', 'Cry of the Banshee', 'Endless Night' and 'The Blood Beast Terror'.

After breakfast, Robert heads through the grounds. The 19th Century Grim's Dyke has been in use as an hotel since 1970.

Robert comes across Professor Marshe's Chauffeur (Michael Warren).
I never expected to find this but fortunately three out of the four posts survive from the boathouse and the trees help. This is the lake, since refilled and smaller after his wife had it drained, where W.S. Gilbert drowned. SJ

In the village, Robert makes enquiries about his missing brother. Julian Manhood advises that this is on High Street in Elstree, at the junction with traffic lights.

Julian adds that this is across the road from the phone box seen in the next capture.

Robert phones his shop to find out if Peter has showed up. Facing north on Blanche Lane in South Mimms.

At the police station, Robert reports his brother missing. The Old Police Station, Blackhorse Lane, South Mimms. Behind the police station stood The Good Companions Cafe which featured in 'The Likely Lads' and 'Digby, the Biggest Dog in the World'.

Finishing work, Eve leaves the home of occult expert, Professor Marshe. Julian Manhood found 'The last house in the village' on Heathbourne Road, Bushey, opposite Clay Lane.
Julian risked the busy, dangerous road and managed to get this shot.
