Returning home together, Nina Gordon (Mai Zetterling) says goodbye to her husband and manager Mark (Terence Morgan) before entering the house to where their daughter Jill and Mary the maid are waiting, leaving him to drive back to town. Seeing her husband passionately kissing Adele at an after show party, Nina walks home alone before Mark catches her up in the car.

With Nina recovering in hospital because of a badly broken leg and Mark leaving for the United States to tour with Adele, income is greatly reduced and the family home has to be sold. Identified by Steve Randall, this is numbers 4-6 Old Palace Terrace in Richmond.
Stepping onto the pavement to avoid parked cars, Nick Boorman found little change has taken place over the intervening 70 years.

Leaving hospital after many months, Nina becomes a ballet instructor and joins with Dr. John Ransome to help invalid children on the road to recovery.
