Storyline:
Darby Templeton is a young blind girl. Her elder sister Joan falls in love with Yorke Ferris, a work-shy rogue, but instead she marries his uncle, Sir Ralph. Yorke is found shot and Sir Ralph is suspected, but Darby, with her acute sense of hearing, finds clues which exonerate him.

A ‘Quota Quickie’ under the name of Darby and Joan that was, until 2018, considered ‘lost’. However, it appears that the movie had an alternate title, She’s My Darling, a cropped and shortened version of which was re-released in 1949 but in 2024 Talking Pictures TV announced that they had found a complete version of the original film under that name.

The film opens with a view of the house in which the action commences. The home of the ‘Templeton’s' where Mrs Templeton (Peggy Simpson) is dying and baby Darby has recently been born. ‘Ewhurst Manor’, 37 Furzehill Road, Borehamwood, Herts. The house can also be seen in ‘Nightmare at Elm Manor’ (1963), ‘Photo Session’ (1963) and ‘Visit from Venus’ (1964) as well as ITC Production films. Now demolished.

Action moves to the films ‘Ferris Hall’ home of Sir Ralph Ferris (Ian Fleming). Stanmore Hall, Wood Lane, Stanmore, Middlesex the time of filming, where we learn that Sir Ralph’s nephew Yorke (Mickey Brantford) and Joan Templeton (Peggy Simpson) are actually in love. Stanmore Hall is Grade ll listed and now converted into luxury apartments.

The decision is made for Sir Ralph to take Joan and Darby to the South of France so that Darby (Pamela Bevan) can enjoy the better weather and hopefully recover from her illness. Monte Carlo harbour, Monaco.
