After the holiday, a train carries Johnny Hampden and his pals Paton and Daventry towards school. This is the West Coast Main Line at Bushey in Hertfordshire. The well used shot was seen in 'Hide and Seek', 'Beat Girl' and 'Left, Right and Centre' while the location also features in 'Train of Events', 'One Wild Oat' and 'A Woman of Mystery'.

A shooting-brake collects the boys from the station for the last leg of the journey to Ferndale School.

School buildings are passed. Steve McCubbin edits an annual alumni magazine for former pupils at Epsom College and recognised this as the main driveway to the college.

Johnny, Paton and Daventry climb out of the brake when it comes to a halt. Steve McCubbin advises that this is the entrance to the main building at Epsom College, which is in College Road, Epsom.

Whilst the Headmaster, Dr. Skillingworth, talks with the three friends, a fight breaks out between Max Hampden (Andrew Ray) and Richard Skillingworth (Colin Freear) in the playground. The school Quad at Epsom College in Epsom located by Steve McCubbin.

After their plan is put into motion, Daventry cycles at speed into the school drive as Johnny and Paton wait for him.

John observes, "The side pillars are different and a college painter on site thought it might be another entrance. But it is definitely the entrance." (SJ)
