Every Day’s a Holiday

In the manager's office at a holiday camp by the sea, Miss Slightly types out letters to the successful applicants for summer jobs. Billy Butlin’s second holiday camp opened in 1938 at Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.

Having received their acceptance letters, twins Susan and Jennifer Baker travel to the coast by train. The AM8 electric multiple unit displaying Clacton as a destination is passing the sidings near the old engine shed to the north of Clacton-on-Sea station where the carriage wash plant stands to the extreme left.

Following the Twins after they tell him about their new positions, the self-important Honourable Timothy Gilpin drives to the holiday camp.

Giving up their jobs at a tailors assistants, Jimmy Dainty (Richard O'Sullivan) and Mike (Tony Daines) make their way to take up their posts. And another spot from Ron, here with Thames Side looking towards Ferry Lane at Laleham, Surrey and the crossing point. (RL)

Leaving her overbearing Aunt and her opera teacher Professor Bastinado behind, Christina Barrington de Witt sets off for the seaside on her Vespa scooter. Gary Twitchett identifies this as Esher Green at Esher in Surrey. (RL)

On the way, Jimmy and Mike have trouble with their 30 year old Austin 7. Muncaster House at the junction of Ferry Lane and Abbey Drive in Laleham located by Nick Boorman.

Mike jumps through exhaust smoke onto the Tourer as the engine bursts into life. Abbey Drive in Laleham, where a building from 1972 stands on the site of the thatched Stable Cottage.

The new Recruits attend a staff meeting where camp manager Mr. Close announces that there's to be a televised talent show which employees as well as guests can enter. Looking up at the Gaiety Theatre.

Having followed her niece to the camp with Professor Leonardo Bastinado (Ron Moody), Mrs. Barrington de Witt (Hazel Hughes) asks Miss Slightly (Liz Fraser) if she has seen Christina. Beaver Lodge, the Children's Nursery, provides the background.

Using his "beatnik" approach, Timothy attempts to chat up a Holidaymaker. The tennis courts at Butlin's in Clacton-on-Sea.

Jimmy watches Timothy get a punch in the face. Over the years the tennis courts, as well as many other facilities, were sited in different positions.

Another pick up attempt ends with two Boyfriends (including George Lane Cooper) chasing Timothy away from their Girlfriends.

During a picnic Christina Barrington de Witt (Grazina Frame) sings "Second Time Shy", another of the film's many numbers, before Timothy suggests that they should all enter the talent contest. Shepperton Studios, Littleton in Surrey

Enjoying a moment together, Gerry and Christina sing the duet "A Boy Needs a Girl". This is footbridge over the River Ash at Shepperton Studios, Littleton where the background building can be seen in 'The Break' and 'Dr. Terror's House of Horrors'. The bridge itself appears in 'The Trygon Factor', 'The House That Dripped Blood', 'Monster of Terror' and 'Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150 AD'.

Walking through the camp, Mrs. de Witt and the Professor stop when they hear Christina singing. Butlin's at Clacton-on-Sea closed in October 1983 and the site became a short lived amusement park before the land was redeveloped for housing.
