Gordon Thomson advises that the film's director of photography, Ray Orton, believes that the farm was not far from Rickmansworth. In fact it's around 11 miles away as the crow flies. Whilst the two boys are out searching for a downed enemy plane, David falls into a river and is rescued by a German Pilot (Jasper Jacob). Gordon Thomson tells us that "The river is the River Colne, and the bridge is on the Chiltern Line". Gordon apologises for that fact that he did not take his camera but to help others, unless he revisits first, "It is about 1/4 mile east of Denham station, and can be walked to from Denham along The Pyghtle then following the path parallel to the Chiltern Line. Alternatively it can be reached by walking from Denham Country Park. I can confirm that this location remains as shown in the capture." (RL)
