Gino – Full Story and Pics (The Comic Strip Presents . . . )

Gino is on the run from the law. Heading westwards he reaches the junction of Morrison Street and Brassey Square, London SW11.

The initial chase is filmed on the Shaftesbury Estate in Battersea, dating from the 1872 when Lord Shaftesbury laid the foundation stones.

He looks down Brassey Square towards Ashbury Road.

The distinctive houses today look in a fresher state than when filming took place.

The trees have thickened over the years.

He runs from the car. 94-96 Tyneham Road SW11.

Buildings around the estate carry the ALGDC mark which stands for the Artizans, Labourers and General Dwelling Company.

Gino finds himself trapped. Birley Street SW11, looking north towards Eversleigh Road.

The police have kept away today.

He seeks somewhere to hide, running into Morrison Street.

Now with brightly coloured doors.

... and finds it in a front garden. 8 Morrison Street.

Today Gino would have to share his hidey-hole with the bins.

The homeowner Bill Schoonie (Adrian Edmondson) has a grudge against the police and lets him in. 8 Morrison Street.

Gino escapes through a window and runs to a taxi. 81 Sabine Road SW11.

All quiet on Sabine Row.

Taxi driver John Trower (Lionel Jeffries) leaves his cab to call the police on their radio. The corner of Sabine Road and Brassey Square looking west.

Today the shop has gone and a parking ticket machine has arrived.

A policeman runs to the taxi driver's aid, as Gino steals the cab. Brassey Square SW11 looking north towards Ashbury Road, and Shaftesbury Park Primary School.

Today the school street is blocked off, hence the No Through Road sign.

A customer (Al Pillay) steps into the back of the taxi and Gino pretends to be a cabbie. The junction of Euston Road and Hampstead Road NW1.

The bus stop is there on the extreme left. SJ

Gino picks up another customer. Birkenhead Street, at the junction with Grays Inn Road WC1.

William Hill has replaced the NatWest on the ground floor, while the upper floors have rooms for the Carlton Hotel. SJ

After a late night pickup of typist Angie, they enter the next day stranded in the featureless "Essex" countryside and hitch a lift from alcoholic Max (Robbie Coltraine). This S-bend is on Wallingford Road, Oxfordshire, just south of the junction with Grove Road.

The road today is currently being resurfaced.

Gino and Angie are holed out in a farmhouse, but the owner has alerted the police. One arrives disguised as a milkman (Peter Richardson). Unknown location.

Owner Frances (Dawn French) tells the policeman that the pair are hiding in a mini.

The policeman's colleague (Daniel Peacock) arrives on the scene. disguised as a postman.

The policemen riddle the car with bullets.

They then set off a large explosion at the suspiciously flat-looking farmhouse.

Gino and Angie have escaped and break into a country house as the owners leave on holiday. Braziers Park at Ipsden, Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

Braziers Park today hosts the School of Integrative Social Research. "a residential college exploring Conscious Co-Existence".

Gino and Angie (Jennifer Saunders) set off with shotguns. Braziers Park, Ipsden.

The house was where Ian Fleming spent his earliest years. It now hosts courses, workshops and retreats.

Gino and Angie drive to a post office. The corner of The Street and Cross Keys Road, South Stoke, Oxfordshire.

The postbox remains.

They hold up the post office to improve their cash flow. The Street, South Stoke. The shop also appears as an Army Surplus Store in 'Eat the Rich'.

The plot is now occupied by Pillar Box House, built post-1996.

Later they drive to a motel.

They spend the evening in the lap of luxury, and watch news reports of their adventures on the motel TV.
