Go-Between, The

In the early 1900s, Leo Colston is invited by his friend Marcus Maudsley to spend the summer holidays at his family's Norfolk country home. Melton Constable Hall, Melton Constable in Norfolk.

Marian and Leo walk through the estate. Melton Constable Hall was empty at the time of filming and the crew had to repaint and repair the house, replace stonework and statues, mow the lawns, cut the hedges and redecorate the interior.

Ted Burgess (Alan Bates) appears when Leo injures himself whilst visiting Black Farm. The Literary Norfolk website advises that the farm was located at Hanworth, Norfolk.

After he begins to act as a messenger between Marian and Ted Burgess, Leo leaves Brandham Hall on a secret mission. The grounds of Melton Constable Hall in Norfolk. The site is not open to the public.

The hall and estate had been in decline for around 20 years at the time of filming.

As the rain carries on pouring, the older Leo pauses opposite the green and remembers the match where he 'caught out' Ted. The B1110 road passing through Thornage with the tower of All Saints' church above the trees to the centre right.
