Following a sandstorm, Corona Flanagan and Chesney Allen bravely struggle home . . . on the studio set where the two are acting in a picture. Sentenced to serve time, Corona is taken to Cantonville Prison where he knows Colonel Baxter, the governor, and arranges a radio show called "Linger Awhile".

Accidentally escaping from his 20 year confinement during a magic trick, Corona joins the staff of the Sun newspaper as Cecil Standish before organising a competition for readers to find his persona of Nobby Bud as he travels the country.

After Nobby is spotted in Southend and Torquay, a special train heads north.

The prison van turns from the main road and into Cantonville to a rapturous welcome. The North Gate of Gunnersbury Park on Pope's Lane W5 at the boundary between Brentford and Ealing. The gateway also appears in 'The Lavender Hill Mob'.
