British Cyprus in 1957. Young American archaeologist Juno Kozani (Strasberg) witnesses a deadly ambush of the EOKA, which is investigated by the local British Intelligence Major McGuire (Bogarde). She later realizes that her host family collaborates with the nationalist guerrilla organisation, hiding their leader (Aslan) on their estate. Consequently Juno is becoming a target of EOKA fighter Haghios (Chakiris), who tries to eliminate her.
Additional Information:
Screen captures and text by Manuel Gurtner and uploaded by Richard Lovejoy.
The first British feature film to depict the Cyprus Emergency, but not filmed on location because considered as too dangerous. That is why the southern Italian peninsula Gargano stands in for Cyprus. The movie was released in the US as ‘McGuire, Go Home!‘.
