Chris Smith trying to remember. Antony tells us that this is looking south-west on Richmond Green adding that the terrace in the left background is known as Maids of Honour Row and was built in the 1720s, partly on the site of Henry VI's Richmond Palace.

So our hero returns to Richmond Court. Mark Amies solves a long outstanding puzzle, what was thought to be a stretch of water in the background is actually the white side wall of the long lost Wembley Stadium Bowl in Wembley Park, Middlesex dating from 1962.

The location also appears in 'Night Comes Too Soon', 'Man at the Top', 'Mister Ten Per Cent', 'Intimate Games', 'Tomorrow at Ten' and 'Digby, the Biggest Dog in the World'.
In fact this and hys026n was It is now an Holiday Inn as his shot shows. It was he adds, a regular haunt of film crews after they had finished filming for the day at the nearby studios. (RL)

Wardour Street, London? Nooo, not Wardour Street says Dave W, but nor is it far away from there. Old Compton street looking east with Wardour Street behind us. The illuminated window frame just left of centre is the "Gamba" advert on the corner with Dean Street. We can even spot the blob shape of the lady's tutu in the capture.
