Laughter fills the village while Janek follows his new friends home. St. Fillans, now part of Perth & Kinross, with Loch Earn to the left.

The children arrive at the house where they live with the MacGregors and ask if Janek can stay with them. Facing the property named Neish in St. Fillans.

Mark took this picture of Neish, which is now totally obscured from the road by the trees in the garden. "My sister and I stopped in the village shop/cafe for a coffee and slice of cake and the guy working behind the counter told us that he had only been told about the film the week before we visited. Whilst we were talking to him and showing him the 1950s views from the film, another man came into the shop and mentioned that he lives in the old school house. He was well aware of the film and had it on DVD and explained that when he bought the school he found several decades old stills from the film which he now has on display."

There are several wooden jetties on this part of the loch, all very close to each other. Mark Craig tells us that there's no way of knowing if this one has been replaced with a new one at the same location and in this comparison there is actually a wooden jetty submerged just below the water in the foreground. The wooden footbridge over the mouth of the River Earn has long since been replaced with a concrete one.
- Capture 44

Nita (Edna Wynn) calls to Janek when she sees him ahead. Perth Road in Crieff, Perthshire with the property named Ard Laggan to the right.

In Mark Craig's view, Ard Laggan has a new window and the old telegraph poles and lamp post have been replaced.
- Capture 55
- 29 Jun 2021

Hearing Nita behind him, Janek comes to a halt outside the church. Perth Road with St. Columba’s church filling the background.

Mark explains that the old St. Columba's Episcopal Church was demolished in 1986 after significant structural faults were found in the tower as the cost of restoration was too great. A modern single storey building is the replacement.
- Capture 56
- 29 Jun 2021

Flash Harry catches up with Nita and Janek. The gates to St. Columba’s church on Perth Road, Creiff.

- Capture 61
- 29 Jun 2021

Nita calls down from the church tower to the pursuing 'hounds'. Outside the building named Galvelbeg, opposite St. Columba’s church on Perth Road, Creiff.

There's very little change to the buildings in Mark Craig's comparison.
