On a nearby road, a Citroën Traction Avant is driven south from Brussels. Looking north along Chaussée de Charleroi at Lasne near Braine-l'Alleud with Château Cheval at Waterloo in the distance. The castle was built by industrialist Leon Cheval and was demolished in 1966 to make way for a road junction.

Inside the car, Koos, Emilson and Fyodor Vachek head towards the home of scientist Van de Velde.

Koos (Michael Peake) brings the Citroën to a halt outside the remote building where Van de Velde is working on a new alloy before entering the laboratory with Emilson and Vachek.
