We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. A Lamplighter fulfills his role as inside his room at Mrs. Ensor's apartments, washed up pantomime artiste Sam Hollingsworth wakes up in time for tea. Dave W is first out of the starting blocks with this one, outside 228 Gloucester Terrace, London W2 looking along the gentle curve towards Porchester Road. (RL)

Sam Hollingsworth (Stanley Holloway) makes his way to the Empire Theatre where the meager audience are already watching a performance of 'Robinson Crusoe'. This looks real enough, maybe somewhere in Paddington W2. Indeed it is, Dave tells us that it shows the portico pillars of 211 and 213 Gloucester Terrace looking towards Ranelagh Bridge. The fine example of a pub with corner lantern has gone in the widening of the approach to the bridge but it was the 'Gloucester Arms', portrayed as the 'Hand & Flower' in the 1953 film 'A Day to Remember'. Mr. Pedelty (Joseph Tomelty) passes Mrs. Stannard (Olive Sloane) and Mr. Elder (Charles Victor) as they wait for a bus. The backdrop gives this scene away as being shot at the studio.
