It's 1930 and Daisy Armstrong is kidnapped from her home in Long Island, New York. In his book, Movie London, Tony Reeves tells us that this is High Canons on Buckettsland Lane, Well End, Hertfordshire.

Five years after Daisy is killed by the kidnapper, on the Asian side of Istanbul, Mary Debenham arrives to catch the ferry to the European side. The modern building in the top centre gives this away as Salacak Iskele Caddesi in Üsküdar, Istanbul, Turkey.

Manuel Gurtner advises that the railway workshops of Le Landy at Paris-Saint Denis stood in for the famous station in Istanbul.

The Orient Express enters a tunnel. The line which ran between Pontarlier and Gilley closed to passengers in 1939 and to freight in 1988 with the route since rebuilt as a cycle-way.
