Next Man, The

The film opens with a view featuring the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, New York, New York where an alliance of oil producing Arab nations is being analysed.

Concerns about the new consortium are also discussed behind the 'Iron Curtain'. The Moscow Kremlin, overlooking the Moskva River as it flows through Moscow in the Central Federal District of Russia.

Outside the Piccadilly Theatre in London's Soho, waiting theatregoers are entertained by busker Norman Norris, who was also seen in 'The London Nobody Knows'. Facing south-east on Sherwood Street.

Peter notes the new road alignment at this location.

On an upper floor of a nearby hotel, disguised agents enter a room and, after a struggle, throw the occupants from the window.

People leave the busker and run to the street beneath the hotel window. Facing the corner of Sherwood Street and Denman Street in W1. The Piccadilly Theatre, to the left, also appears in 'Don't Open till Christmas'.

In the hotel stairwell, one of the assailants kills the other. Even as a tea drinker Dave W recognises the 'Goat Tavern' public house in Kensington High Street, London W8, so he says this stairwell must be in the Royal Garden Hotel. (RL)

An ambulance arrives on the scene while the surviving agent is watched as he makes his escape. Looking along Sherwood Street towards Lower James Street and the junction with Brewer Street. The area appears in 'The Young Americans' and 'Pit of Darkness'.

The killer boards a bus. More of London's Piccadilly Circus with the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain to the extreme left and Regent Street curving away beyond.

The number 22 halts at a bus stop where an elderly woman boards before she discovers the dead body of the agent on the top deck. Dave W became fed up waiting for a bus opposite 203 Albany Street, London NW1, with or without a dead body on the top deck, so completed his journey on foot. (RL)

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, another assassination takes place.

In Nice, France, a helmeted guard looks after Al Sharif and Nicole Scott (Cornelia Sharpe) at a firework display.

As the carnival continues, Al Sharif (Adolfo Celi) and Nicole head towards a café.

The couple arrive at a luxurious house. This is the Hôtel Cap-Estel, in Èze Bord-de-mer, Alpes-Maritimes. (SR)

Following the murder, the contract killer travels by train from Vienna to Paris and meets her client in the compartment. During a stopover in the Austrian Alps, he instructs her on the platform to infiltrate Khalil Abdul-Muhsen. Manuel Gurtner suspects that, since the two actors cannot be seen in full in this shot, the dialogue scene was probably filmed with two stand ins. Shot at St. Johann in Tirol station, Tyrol state, Austria, where the first scene shows the arrival of an Austrian Federal Railways passenger train from the direction of Kitzbühel. The snow-covered mountain range of the Kaisergebirge can be seen on the right. After the station was modernized, the goods shed in the background was demolished.

After arriving at Dublin airport, Nicole drives to see her parents. This is Strathmore Road, Killiney which was in County Dublin at the time of filming.

After speeding down the long drive, Nicole brings the car to a stand outside her ancestral home. Alan Bourke advises that this is Marlay Park House in Rathfarnham, Dublin which can also be seen in 'Johnny Nobody'.

Through New York streets, police escort a car carrying Khalil Abdul-Muhsen from the airport.

After passing fried chicken shops and vacant lots, the Saudi Arabian Minister of State arrives at his hotel from where he is taken by helicopter to the World Trade Center.

Demonstrators make their voices heard as Khalil Abdul-Muhsen is driven through the city. The United Nations Headquarters seen from United Nations Plaza NY 10017.

Carrying bread and vegetables the two return to the Mercedes-Benz Pullman. Outside the former Caruso's on Mott Street in New York's Little Italy.

Accompanied by Hamid and the police in a squad car, Abdul-Muhsen goes for a jog. Overlooking Central Park and the Maine Monument with Central Park West leading away from Columbus Circle to the left.

Also in New York, Nicole gets out of a cab laden with shopping before entering her apartment.
