Night of the Big Heat

The film opens with an establishing shot of the Meteorological Station on the fictional island of Fara, off the coast of Scotland. This is the Transmitter Station at Portland Bill, Portland in Dorset.

Andrew Price provides this comparison adding that "The Transmitter Station underwent an upgrade in the mid-1980s which saw the demolition of the site's existing buildings after which the station continued to operate until the late 90s. The site is currently the 'Portland Bunkhouse' which provides bunk-style accommodation."

Angela Roberts drives her Austin-Healey Sprite around the island after arriving from the mainland. Higherlight Lane, Portland with the Old Higher Lighthouse just visible behind the buildings in the left background.

Andrew Price advises that the Old Lower Lighthouse has been home to the Portland Bird Observatory since 1961.

Jeff returns to the inn as Ken Stanley (William Lucas) loads his Land Rover with drinks for the Meteorological Station. The Swan Inn, Broughton Road in Milton Keynes Village, Milton Keynes. The building was largely destroyed by fire in December 2011 but has since been restored.

After stopping to pick up the dog, Bob spots something in the quarry.

Struggling back into his Ford Consul, Bob hears a piercing whine that causes him to crash the car which bursts into flames.

Callum and Hanson race to Tinker's garage where they find him dead. This one may be a studio set.
