Night Train to Paris

Jules Lemoine (Hugh Latimer) approaches the telephone box where a Man waits to had over a tape in exchange for cash. Looking southward along Pottery Road from the corner of Netley Road and Clayponds Lane in Brentford, Middlesex, a location which also features in 'The Captive Heart' and 'The Gentle Gunman'.

Antony Blair found a very changed scene 58 years later.

Pocketing an envelope full of notes, the Man crosses the road. Facing Netley Road from Pottery Road with houses on Distillery Road crossing the background and a gasometer belonging to Brentford Gasworks to the top centre.

Conscious of his action, the Man walks nervously away after the encounter. It's a different van but this is the corner of Netley Road and Distillery Road.

Krogh (Eric Pohlmann) appears from a side street. The junction of Netley Road and Distillery Road.

Aware that he is being followed, the Man turns into an alley. The corner of Netley Road and Chapel Alley.

Krogh follows. This is Chapel Alley running south from Netley Road in Brentford with the same gasometer seen earlier to the extreme top left.

As his pursuer ups his pace, the Man breaks into a run. Looking northwards along Chapel Alley with number 79 Netley Road in the right distance.

After trying several locked gates, the Man is cornered as Krogh approaches and demands to know to whom he has given the tape before strangling him. The southern end of Chapel Alley in Brentford, Middlesex.

Cut to the offices of International Travel Airlines where Catherine Carrel visits former OSS officer Alan Holiday and hands over a coin from Jules Lemoine.

Through the window of his flat, Alan sees Catherine Carrel (Aliza Gur) arrive with Jules Lemoine. Elystan Street SW3 with Keppel House to the top left.

From ground level, a view which will have to do until perhaps a resident of Elystan Mansions can help out. SJ

Getting out of a cab, Alan Holiday (Leslie Nielsen) looks up at his flat where Lemoine is waiting. The premises in the background stand at the corner of Fulham Road and Elystan Street.

After Lemoine is murdered in the apartment, Alan leaves to make his way to Victoria station with the tape. Facing the entrance of Elystan Mansions on Elystan Street in SW3.

Just as Catherine gets onto the Bear Ski Club Special train with other guests, Alan runs onto the platform. Victoria station in Victoria SW1.

I'm really unsure about this one but this is close to the side of platform 2. SJ

Two Detectives (Trevor Reid and unknown) speak with one of the special train's Attendants before boarding. Platform 2 at Victoria station in SW1. The location and train also feature in 'The IPCRESS File', 'Night Ferry', 'The Ware Case' and 'Red and Blue'.

Soon after Krogh manages to make his way onto the train, a whistle is blown. The train is the Night Ferry which ran between London Victoria and Paris Gare du Nord until being withdrawn at the end of October 1980.

The Bear Ski Club Special pulls out of the station. The train leaving platform 2 at London's Victoria station was operated by the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits at the time of filming.

The shelter between platforms 1 & 2, beyond the train shed, still remains. SJ

As the Detectives check the passengers details, the special overnight train to Paris and Switzerland speeds towards the Kent coast. Here's some familiar footage of a currently unidentified location which can also be seen in 'The Set Up', 'Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors' and 'From Russia with Love'.

Passengers begin to celebrate the New Year in the restaurant car as the carriages are loaded onto the train ferry for the crossing to France. Dover Marine in Dover, Kent.

Leaving port, the ferry heads out into the English Channel.

As the morning sun rises, a tug escorts the overnight ferry into port at Dunkirk.

Dressed as the ski club's mascot, Krogh leads Alan to a place of safety after the two get off the train when the Police begin to close in. Undertaking his own research Christopher Matheson (www.londononlocation.co.uk) found that this, together Captures 23 and 24, are in fact Littleton Pumping Station, Laleham, Surrey. (RL)
