The film opens with Vera Baker (Vera Lynn) and her colleagues riding through the countryside. Dave Buckley places this as Box Hill, Tadworth, Surrey and it would appear that the gate remains. (RL)

I was expecting to find the gate, but sadly, it is no longer there. (SD)

Panning left, the camera follows the cyclists as they sing and whistle on their way. Zig Zag Hill Road, Box Hill near Tadworth, Surrey says Dave Buckley and SD tells us that this section of the road is also seen in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', 'Catacombs', 'Casino Royale' (1967) and 'Nothing Venture'. The girls near the station to board the train for London where they return to work at the United Nations Welfare Service. Dave didn't wonder for much longer and soon came up with the location. The A24 with the Burford Bridge Hotel (extreme left middle), now Mercure Box Hill at the junction with the B2209 still there, although not quite so easy to see from that distance. Oh yes, and the girls are cycling in the wrong direction for the local station. (RL)

Viewed out of the car window, which is probably the safest way to take photographs on the A24. The view of the hotel is now totally obscured. (SD)

The train arrives at its London terminus. This is the often seen Waterloo station on Waterloo Road SE1 which also features in 'Waterloo Road', 'The Rebel', 'Bank Holiday', 'Miss London Ltd.' and 'The Party's Over'.

Simon was alert to the similarity of the shot from "The Reluctant Bride" and took this shot at the same time. (SJ)
