Carnaby St, London, W1, the shite flooring is still there if you want to check, says Aidan McManus. Thanks for this.

Carnaby St.
Corner of Carnaby Street and Ganton Street, W1. I think the flooring took Aidan's comment (see above) too much to heart. SJ

Found as the new dates show.
194 Kensington Park Rd, looking towards Westbourne Park Rd, W11. Seriously well spotted by David. Excellent.

Looking north to the corner today. SJ

Quickly identified ...
Carnaby St. I was wrong about the dayglo floor still being there, admits Aidan McManus.

Golborne Rd / Portobello Rd, W10, David again, and that pic really took some serious research. Amazing.

Grand Union Canal, Paddington branch, taken from Great Western Road bridge, the tower block is Trellick Tower side on, (good reflection in the water), Maida Hill, W10. On the left of the canal is Meanwhile Gardens, claims Aidan.

Hitherto with no capture text, whilst it may be evident to some, Ray points out that this is the same location as the previous capture. (RL)

Richard Bennett notes, "Underneath the bridge that takes Great Western Road over the Grand Union Canal at Meanwhile Gardens. There are more narrow boats here than there were back in the day. And more graffiti." (SJ)

Street market with Wimpy & Woolworths, flyover and modern building in the background. Westway? ... Acklam Rd at junction with Portobello Rd and Cambridge Gdns, West London, all the market scenes shown are probably Portobello Rd. From Aidan.
Corner of Portobello and Acklam Road, check the tower block peeping over the top of the westway, and the corner building is a clincher. Excellent shot from Aidan McManus.

Portobello between Oxford and Cambridge Gardens going up the hill to Goldborne Rd, all West London. Aidan did the sleuthing.

Following in Aidan's heels (he provided the following "now"), 14 years later here is a similar shot, looking south, showing the same paint colours. SJ

identified by Aidan McManus as the corner of St Luke's Road with Tavistock Road, where the Metro Club was sited. This club replaced the half-demolished church (St. Luke's) seen in 'A Hard Day's Night'.

This shot from Aidan replaces one from 2008 looking south down Leamington Road Villas W11, which was close but a street away. So this looks south down St. Luke's Road close to the corner with Tavistock Road. (SJ)

Found.
Great Western Rd / Tavistock Rd, W11, and as David is so exact with this one, who can seriously doubt that he is correct with the others. Fantastic.

Great Western Road, Westbourne Park
Great Western Road W11, outside Westbourne Park station positively identified by David Neicho. Across the road was seen in 'The 14'.

Lucky timing with the bus. Looking north-west as the Great Western Road runs under Westway. SJ

Notting Hilly or even Mare street or Upper / Lower Clapton Road... the former
Portobello Road, under the Westway. Aidan McManus took the pic.

Hitherto another capture with no text, again, for it may be evident to some, but Ray points out that this is looking north on Portobello Road, London W11 just before the intersection of Talbot Road (right) and Blenheim Crescent (left). (RL)

Not quite as busy. SJ

Is that arch a clue?
Portobello Road, the brothers stall, old school entrance to Issac Newton School. Aidan again.
- Capture 25

Ladbroke Grove-y? Cambridge Gdns, W11 says Aidan. And who can doubt him?

Richard Bennett was as far back as he could be, now that the street market has permanent awnings. (SJ)

Nice spire, should be a giveaway. Harrow Road? Harrow Road, near Allstars Boxing Club with spire in background says Aidan.

Looking the other way towards the Ha'penny steps with the baths on the right this time, Aidan agrees. The bridge also appears in 'Quadrophenia', 'Dangerous Davies: The Last Detective' and 'The Traitors'.
Wedlake Street towards the bridge. Another one sent in by Aidan.
- Capture 34
- 29 May 2018
The long gone bridge with Harrow Rd at the end, the building on the left is still there: this is the bridge from 'Quadrophenia' and 'The Traitors' (1962). Excellent proof from Aidan.

The old bridge that was to the left has clearly been replaced but the wider shot sets the scene.
- Capture 35

The steps at the Harrow Rd end of the Ha'penny bridge, now gone. Aidan McManus supplied the details.

Looks Notting Hilly years ago... Richard B. adds that just before they're emerging from a house on the west side of Wornington Road and walk towards Golborne Road but then it does cut. The style of the houses (design of bay windows, presence of basements, dogleg design of the low walls next to the steps up to the houses, height of the piers at street level) matches exactly that seen in 1970s old photos of houses in Wornington Road ...
- Capture 37
- 'Now' required
Panning left from the previous capture. And Richard continues ... "this potential section of Wornington Road (or perhaps an adjacent street) have since been redeveloped." Intriguing! Looking at old maps, Wornington Road was a long terrace so perhaps further north on the corner of Munro Mews or Bonchurch Road, all also redeveloped. (SJ)
- Capture 38
- 28 May 2025

Looking south-east from the corner with Golborne Road down Wornington Road. For those with long memories, this capture was originally posted, horizontally flipped, causing some confusion, though Ray Glenister was able to identify it. (SJ)

Richard B took this from the corner of Les Couilles du Chien, whose mantra is "Reuse the Past." Not applied with the levelling of the entire Wornington Road to replace with inferior, one notes with irony. (SJ)
- Capture 39
- 17 Apr 2024

Outside 65 Golborne Road, London W10 looking SW. (RL). 2025 update: as above for the previous capture initially reversed. (SJ)

From the same corner but looking down Golborne Road. As Richard B. points out Les Couilles du Chien, the current occupier of no65, has an amusing translation. SJ

Mmnnnn? ... Found by Steve Randall: Tyringham Hall, Newport Pagnell, Berkshire, Now in private hands, at the time of filming it was the headquarters of the General Osteopathic Council of the UK.

A temporary shot culled from the internet and taken from the other direction. It is hoped that this can be replaced but in the meantime proves Steve's identification of this previously unknown location. (SJ)
