Alan "Quack Quack" Duckworth's (John Albasiny) vigorous bowling technique causes the shedding of the contents of his satchel. The road sign says "York Road" but it isn't a prop, as Kevin McCarthy recognised the corner of Julien Road and York Road in Ealing W5 from his childhood.

After school, Alan sees his beloved, Ann Lawton (Abigail Cruttenden), being far too friendly with class swot Geoffrey (Maurice Dee). The footpath that runs between Merton Hall Road and Kingston Road alongside Wimbledon Chase Primary with Chatsworth Avenue to the left and the bridge carrying the railway between Wimbledon Chase station and Wimbledon stations in the distance.

The path now carries cycle traffic too.

As Alan's courage abandons him, he makes an about turn. Wolsey Crescent, Lower Morden in Greater London recognised by Peter Bywaters.

Peter explains that most of the front gardens and privet hedges have disappeared for block paving to park the car, but the houses are still the same and instantly recognisable.

A dejected Alan returns home. Kevin McCarthy identifies this as the corner of York Road and Julien Road in W5 adding that, at some time in the late 60s to early 70s, the Bramley Road end of York Road was renamed Julien Road.

Peter Bywaters calculated that Alan appears to live around 14 miles from Ann . . . long walk!
