After the children fall asleep on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus arrives. No locations in this 19th century production, just the magically projected roof top scenery.
Santa Claus was filmed on a set built in St. Anne's Well Gardens, Hove, East Sussex by film pioneer George Albert Smith who leased the gardens from 1882 to 1904. In 1887 Smith patented a double exposure system and in 1899 built a glasshouse studio to utilise the natural light. Although the exact location of the studio is unknown, it was probably near to the pump house which Smith used for developing and printing his films. (SD)
