Can you help:

If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

Naples.

A Neapolitan street... This is the main shopping gallery in Napoli, I believe. JT.

Well spotted, JT: the Galleria Umberto I opposite the teatro San Carlo, as opposed to the Galleria Principe seen in The Talented Mr Ripley. This is the east facing branch. (All points of the compass look very similar, and the scaffolding doesn't help.) SJ

A restaurant with a view of Vesuvius. Sbrescia, Rampe San Antonio a Posillipo 109, Naples. (SR)

On a tower in Pompeii.

The tower is somewhat out of bounds so this is the best angle. Torre XI to the north of Pompeii. SJ.

An oven at Pompeii.

After three tries in several years, I finally found the right one. Pistorum di Popidius Priscus. Regio VII, Insula 2, 22

Stepping stones at Pompeii. See the cover of Latin I by SRH James for a similar shot. Forgive the plug.

The Via di Stabia on the intersection with Via dell'Abbondanza. SJ.

Tempio di Apollo, Pompeii.

The forum, Pompeii.

The south end of the forum. SJ.

Capri: same hotel where C. Gable stayed here 10 years later in It Started in Naples. This is overlooking the Piazza Umberto I, Capri Town, also seen in Darling and Another Simple Favour.

The enrance leads to a Banca di Roma cashpoint. SJ.

Window shopping in Capri town.

Via Vittorio Emanuele III opposite the Hotel La Palma. And Massa is still going after 61 years. SJ

Piazza Umberto I, Capri Town.

Piazza Umberto I, where, surprise surprise, there's another film crew in action, in fact for the Italian TV show called, er, "Capri". SJ.

Now in the east side of Capri in the Villa Iovis area, but I'm having trouble making it match.

Ah it's in a closed off area, hence the trouble, now solved. This is by the tower used by emperor Tiberius to signal the mainland. SJ

Monte Tiberio in the background.

Same place as above. SJ

Overlooking western Capri and Marina Grande.

Not quite the right place but certainly the right coastline. SJ

Marina Piccola, I Faraglione, a few yards from where Christie sunbathed in Darling.

And using an ordinary lens so a bit of distortion unless I'm in the wrong place. SJ

Naples on the Castel dell'Ovo promontory with Vesuvius in the background.

Reverse shot. Definitely Twickenham-ish.

Not quite the same place but look at the three buildings to the left. Same background and same angle. SJ.

Florence, from south of the Arno. Similar views were seen in 'The Statue' and 'Hannibal'.

Taken from Piazzale Michelangelo, Firenze. With thanks to Giuseppe Patti. (PW)
