On board an express train, Theo Gaunt pays Arthur Payne's fare when he can't produce a ticket for the Guard. The footage also appears in 'Night Train to Paris', 'Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors' and 'From Russia with Love'.

Newly released prisoner Arthur Payne (Brian Peck) works on his barge on the river. Located by Richard Marum, this is along what is now the “Thames Path” at the apex of the meander adjacent to Chertsey Road to the east of Chertsey in Surrey. The location also appears in 'The Rivals'.

The electricity pylon seen more clearly in the left distance of Richard's comparison is on Dumsey Meadow with Chertsey Meads to the left of the river.

Told by Gaunt that he's found the boy they're looking for, Ray Underwood (Anthony Bate) arrives at the mooring where Payne has his barge. Identified by Richard Marum, this is looking through the gateway onto Chertsey Road from the riverside.

Taken from the road by Richard, this is the location as it appears now.

Underwood approaches Payne and puts forward a proposition that could earn him £100. The land between the River Thames and Chertsey Road, to the east of it's junction with Chertsey Bridge Road and Littleton Lane, with Redcote and the tall chimneys of Westray in the left background.

Richard took this shot of what appears to be all that’s left of the house boat’s garden.

Accepting the job to steal fake jewellery, Payne is driven by Underwood to Pop Medwin's shop to obtain a groceries. Facing Chertsey Road from Church Square in Shepperton, Middlesex.

Nick Boorman was unable to provide a classic Ford for that final touch.

After watching the Ford Consul pull away, Payne enters the shop. Church Square in Shepperton, a location that appears in many films including 'Mysterious Island', 'The Dog Outwits the Kidnappers', 'Paul Temple Returns', 'Trent's Last Case', 'The 3 Worlds of Gulliver', 'Hoverbug', 'Find the Lady' and 'Bond of Fear'.

Nick Boorman's capture shows that the store and the antiques shop have long departed, if ever they did trade as such.

Police arrive at The Cedars on Woking Road and begin to search the premises after the death of Mrs. Gaunt during a break in is reported.

Hiding out in a riverside property after escaping from Gaunt's house, Payne watches a Police Officer (Roy Patrick) conduct house to house enquiries. The Towpath, Shepperton in Middlesex, looking towards D'Oyly Carte Island located by Richard Lovejoy (RL).

Cars clutter the view in Nick Boorman's comparison.

Sally (Pamela Greer) arrives home with paint. The Towpath, Shepperton identified by RL.

The Towpath now by Richard Marum.

Carrying the cans of paint, Sally enters her home to find Payne inside. RL discovered that the property is Shalimar, which looks very much the same today. Andy Harris brings to our attention that the bungalow can also be seen in 'The Long Arm' (RL)

Richard Marum captured this view of the same building.

As part of his investigation, Inspector David Jackson (John Carson) arrives at Pop's shop to make enquiries. Looking west from Church Square onto Chertsey Road in Shepperton, Middlesex.

Nick Boorman found some changes in the road layout and the addition of bollards.
