Extra Neil Blair arrives at the studios where director Derek Engles recognises him as one of the men under his command during the war. Gaumont British Studios on Lime Grove in Shepherds Bush W12.

Antony Blair returned to the site of the former Gaumont Film Studio.

Blair accepts a job given to him by Engles and travels to Val Croche in the Dolomites with Joe Wesson, who is also in the employ of the director. The view over Val d’Isere in Savoie, France.

Posing as film makers, Blair and Joe leave the Hotel Mancini in the valley and lake their way to the cable car station. No stars on location as a second unit was sent to the French Alps to film exteriors.

As instructed, the two make their way up the nearby mountain.

Reaching the top of the mountain, the pair enter the ski lodge described by Engles.

Fellow Englishman Gilbert Mayne invites Blair on a skiing expedition and the two leave the lodge.

When Blair is knocked unconscious when crashing, Mayne leaves him on the freezing mountainside and reports him missing before a search party is organised.
