Can you help:

If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

  • 'Now' required

Hayward arrives at a grand house... JT found a old note with Heathrow House written on it, but an internet search has not come up with anything. A house near Heathrow? Finally tracked this down to Ascot Place, near Winkfield in Berkshire. (SR)

  • 'Now' required

From the garden on the other side and mercifully in daytime. Ascot Place is an 18th century mansion that was bought by the Emir of Abu Dhabi in 1989. The house has been renovated, with the top floor removed. (SR)

Baker, Craig and Judd by the lake next to the house. Ascot Place. (SR)

A real charming country cottage. Cornwall, Kent?

The approach to the above.

This looks like London, W1.

TonyK was amazingly quick with this one and graciously confirms the W1 guess. Mansfield Street, W1.

Hayward visits Craig, a specialist for her condition.

7 Mansfield Street, W1. SJ

Craig and Hayward in Portobello Road, W11. I reckon that Ionic pillar on the left belongs to the Electric.

Yes, a match, despite the vans. SJ

A little further south possibly.

Hmmm, maybe. SJ

Now the action switches to the southwest. A view of the Fowey estuary from Polruan.

Not easy to replicate but this is the same foreground roof with extensions. SJ

East Street and The Quay, Polruan.

At the junction of East Street, West Street and Fore Street looking down to the Quay. Image from Lionel Sear.

Panning left to the west to West Street and Fore Street.

Well done, Lionel, with the above and below but you missed this one. SJ

Close-up of Hayward and Craig at the same junction.

The same junction now. Were we there on the same cloudy day? SJ

The couple on Fore Street.

Looking up Fore Street. Another picture from Lionel who adds "The making of this film had quite an effect on the town that endures 50 years on. As I walked around a number of locals, seeing me trying to match up locations with the Reelstreets paper print out that I was carrying came up to say that they remembered the filming or were even in it. The whole process was quite lucrative for some who got paid for their efforts and a taxi driver did very well out of ferrying exposed film up to the main studios at the end of each day."

Driving up West Street or Battery Lane.

Lionel Sear captured the same location now. Looking down Fore Street at the junction with St Saviours Hill.

As above.

St Saviours Hill at the junction with Fore Street. Picture by Lionel Sear.

Hayward at her house on a Polruan headland overlooking St Catherine's Castle and Gribben/Gribbin Head on the Fowey side of the estuary.

Appropriately enough called Headland. SJ

Hayward and Craig drink the view.

The owner, who has been there for 40 years, opens up the garden every Thursday in high season for the RNLI. I happened to be lucky. The chimney has gone and the conservatory redesigned. SJ

Steps down to the beach. This looks like the house on the southwest corner on Battery Lane.

The garden was reportedly in a bit of a state but is now splendid. SJ

View of Polruan from Fowey.

Polruan, taken by Lionel Sear from the Esplanade in Fowey.

Ah rocks, my favourite. Near the beach below Polruan.

The same rock at a higher tide. SJ

More rocks on the Fowey estuary.

Steps lead down to the beach: only other access is by boat. Again the tide is higher. The ruins of an observation tower in the background. Its twin on the other side at Fowey has fared far worse. SJ

Sports Day, filmed above Polruan "where Greenbank is now built" according to Wikipedia.

The playing fields have gone and the area is now completely covered by the Greenbank estate. This picture was taken from a gap in the buildings looking West. Confirmation and information by Lionel Sear.

Another shot of sports day. Hayward gets ready for the egg and spoon race.

Like Lionel, who produced a far superior previous shot than I, I was on Greenbanks as well and this was the best, and still very rough, I could manage for the now. SJ
