At New Scotland Yard, Police Chiefs of Five Continents meet to discuss the problem. New Scotland Yard on Broadway SW1. Now moved, closed and demolished, the building appears in several other films including ‘Columbo: Dagger of the Mind’, 'Frenzy', 'The Sex Thief', ‘The File of the Golden Goose’, ‘Don’t Open till Christmas’ and ‘Hennessy’.

When the committee of Police Chiefs decide to contact Sherlock Holmes, the Commissioner of Police is sent to contact him. The corner of Baker Street and Marylebone Road in NW1. A set was constructed of the junction for ‘The Bank Job’ and the real location can be seen in ‘You Made Me Love You’ and ‘The White Bus’.

Getting out of the car, Chief Commissioner Blocker (Stratford Johns) makes his way to the apartment of Mr. A Sherlock-Holmes. Outside Baker Street station in NW1.

While the Commissioner waits, Sherlock Holmes’ grandson sits reading in a coffee bar before returning home. 108 Baker Street London W1, now The Kitchen at Holmes restaurant.

Maybe an improvement, possibly less character or just different. (PW)

When the Commissioner is murdered after leaving the meeting, Holmes and Watson decide to return his body to Scotland Yard. The Clock Tower of the former Abbey National Headquarters on Baker Street.

When demolition took place in 2005, the Clock Tower was preserved and now forms part of the replacement building. (PW)

The consulting detective and his friend board a bus with the parcelled up corpse. The camera tilts down to street level. Looking north along Baker Street in NW1.

Sitting on a bus with the wrapped up body of the Commissioner on the seat between himself and Holmes, Dr. Watson is approached by the Conductor (Derek Griffiths).

Noticing the obviously 'man shaped' package, the Conductor queries why the Doctor has only asked for two tickets.

The Carlton Hotel's Commissionaire (Delaney O'Connor) waits by the entrance as a taxi draws up bringing Hercule Poirot to a meeting of all of the great detectives in the world. Geoff Dodd identifies this as Littleton Park House at the studios in Shepperton, Surrey, a location that can be seen in 'The Green Man', 'A King in New York', 'The Horror of It All', 'Suspect' and 'The Spy with a Cold Nose'.
