Storyline:

Tommy Mutch enters the world of professional boxing to make money and impress Connie Fletcher. With the help of his trainer, Tommy gets a deal with local promoter Sammy Sanders, who plans to fix a series of matches between Tommy and Frankie Fox. Needing money to help his sister Elsie, and distracted by the sexual allure of Sammy’s girl Dot Ducrow, Tommy has to decide whether to take a dive or stand up to Sammy.

Peter Robinson advised that he had read a review of this film which mentions Notting Hill as a location.

The movie's opening shots are almost the only locations shot for this movie. The majority of this movie contains studio sets and back projection for some 'external' scenes. As the credits fade we see this street view. This is a reversed view of Walmer Road in London W10 (PW).

The camera pans left to reveal this shot of the premises at the end of the street. The corner of Walmer Road and Silchester Road, demolished in the 1960s and now occupied by the roundabout at the Westway / West Cross Junction (PW).

The camera continues to pan left revealing the adjoining street. In the distance on the extreme left stands The Black Bull public house at the corner of Silchester Road and Oldham Road W10. In later years, this area is where scenes for 'Theatre of Blood', 'Breaking Glass' and 'Seven Green Bottles' would be shot (PW).
