Can you help:

If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

A traffic policeman (Pierluigi Marchionne) introduces the action from the Piazza Venezia in front of the Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Venezia, formerly the Fascist HQ: there's the balcony from which Mussolini would address the crowds, as seen, for example, in "A Special Day."

No policeman now. SJ

Just a little south, Pill accosts local Parenti for directions to the Fontana Trevi at the base of Scalinata dell'Ara Coeli and Cordonata Capitolina, alongside one of the Fontane dei Leoni Egizi.

Slightly off-angle. SJ

The mission to find the Trevi is succesful.

A tourist-free snap. SJ

  • 'Now' required

Romance blooms in these unknown gardens, but could be Villa d'Este.

Pill on the mobile walking down from Via degli Ibernesi towards Via Baccina, just east of Foro Augusto.

Now. SJ

Baldwin dines al fresco in the Via della Pace, west of Piazza Navona. This is looking south.

Sent in by Richard Winchester (SJ).

Pill and Parenti visit the Villa d'Este outside Rome in Tivoli.

A comparison sent in by Dennis Polishchuk. (SJ)

Baldwin goes on a nostalgic tour including the Via Margutta: a similar shot is seen in Roman Holiday.

Rather in need of a trim. SJ

Eisenberg recognises Baldwin at the corner of Via della Scala (to left) and Via Garibaldi, west across the river in the Trastevere area.

Looks a bit scruffier now. SJ

Benigni, wife and friends visit the Cinema Farnese, Piazza Campo de' Fiori at the corner with Via dei Giubbonari, south of Piazza Navona.

Still going as a cinema (for now). SJ

  • 'Now' required

Out-of-towner Masonardi leaves her hotel for the hairdresser's but is quickly lost. I can help: just south of the Piazza del Popolo, the Via dei Greci looking west onto the Via del Corso.

  • 'Now' required

And indeed it is in the Piazza del Popolo where she loses her mobile down a SPQR drain.

  • 'Now' required

Eisenberg leads Baldwin to his flat at 8 Via de Neofiti, just south of Via Baccina and east of capture 5.

Masonardi is still lost. Looking south down Largo Arenula from Via Florida, directly south of the Pantheon.

I think the original was filmed in later in the evening. SJ

A night-time walk with Page, Eisenberg, and his girl-friend Greta Gerwig passing the Fontana dei Fiumi in the Piazza Navona.

Looking north, and less busy in the hot daytime. SJ

  • 'Now' required

A paparazzo charges Benigni who has inexplicably found fame overnight. This is the rear of 17 Via di Villa Belardi in the southern suburbs.

  • 'Now' required

Another view of the paparazzi.

Allen and Davis meet future in-law Armilato at his funeral parlour and it really is one (Onoranze Funebri: villa Fiorelli) at 95 Via Termi to the east of the centre.

Off the beaten tourist track. SJ

Maonardi has still a problem with directions. The corner of Via dell'Argentina and Via Florida overlooking the remains of the Theatre of Pompey where it is thought Julius Caesar was murdered.

New traffic lights, or were they removed just for the scene? SJ

Masonardi comes to rest at the Fontana delle Tartarughe in the Piazza Mattei, a little to the south-east of the above.

Also seen, briefly, in The Roman Spring of Mrs Stone (1960) and The Talented Mr Ripley. SJ

Eisenberg and Page survey the Foro Romano.

I should be higher and more to the left. SJ

  • 'Now' required

And next they take a trip to the Auditorium Parco della Musica, south of the Viale Pietro de Coubertin north of the city centre.

  • 'Now' required

Now with Gerwig, Eisenberg are on the Via degli Zingari from the Via dei Serpenti. This is a little further east from capture 13.

  • 'Now' required

Benigni attends a première at the Space Cinema Moderno on the south side of Piazza della Repubblica.

  • 'Now' required

Meanwhile Eisenberg is jealous when his girlfriend Gerwig sets up Page with Lino Guanciale as they view the remains of the Acquedotto Claudio which runs south-east of the city.

Eisenberg and Guanciale jog through the Porta Settimiana. This is looking north from the capture 9 shot from Via Garibaldi.

Pretty much identical. SJ

  • 'Now' required

The trio of Eisenberg, Page and Gerwig dine. Looking east on the Piazza della Madonna dei Monti towards Via dell'Angeletto at a Gelateria called Il Faraone. Same piazza as capture 13.

  • 'Now' required

Then, during a thunderstorm, they lark about in a Roman ruin called the Villa dei Quintili between the Via Appia Antica and Via Appia Nuova to the south-east of Rome.

  • 'Now' required

Tiberi and Cruz at the modern Villa Quintili, west of Appia Antica in the same area.

Benigni is caught with a starlet by the paps in the Piazza Santa Maria in Trastavere.

Both the family and white van looked too well-entrenched to hang around for a clearer shot. SJ

His flight is hindered by a procession in the Via Font d'Olio north of the piazza.

Graffiti has bred in this street. Also seen in The Roman Spring of Mrs Stone (2002). SJ

  • 'Now' required

Discussing fame with his chauffeur on the Viale Fortunato Mizzi, in the Parco del Colle Oppio, just north-east of the Colosseo.

Eisenberg and Page get together in front of the Tempio di Esculapio in the Larghetto di Villa Borghese.

This was sent in by Dennis Poilshchuk. (SJ)

  • 'Now' required

Benigni finds that his fame is suddenly transferred to another random person. Via della Vite east of Via del Corso.

  • 'Now' required

Gerwig, Eisenberg and Page visit La Vecchia Pineta in Castel Fusano, east of Ostia.

Baldwin, who seems to be Eisenberg's conscience, bids farewell to him at the same corner they met and turns up Via della Scala.

Looking south-east from via Garibaldi towards the piazza di Sant'Egidio. SJ

  • 'Now' required

Benigni and wife walk down the Via Vittorio Veneto.

  • 'Now' required

Uneasy at not being recognised, Benigni remonstrates with the traffic on the corner with Via Lombardia.

  • 'Now' required

A terrace from where Allen, Davis, Pill and Parenti can see the Piazza Spagna, if they turn east. The dome of the San Carlo al Corso to the west can be made out in the distance.

Off angle but without elevation to those private terraces, tricky to reproduce. SJ
