Setting the scene . . . Harley Street in London W1 where Doctor Howard Fleming and his wife Clare have their practices.
After a fair amount of searching, Peter found this sign and remarks that the original was replaced when Marylebone became Westminster.

After she leaves her husband following a row about disciplining their son, Tim Shields drives Clare Fleming to Newhaven. Looking across the level crossing from Guildford Street into Guildford Road in Chertsey, Surrey.

Tim chases after Clare as she runs towards a waiting ferry. Peter Brown advises that the ship is the SS Arromaches, presumably at Newhaven and worked the Newhaven-Dieppe route until 1964. (RL)
