The steamboat approaches the remote settlement. Mr. X confirms that Bowen Island is the only location in this production, establishing that the only bay on the island with a similar view of other islands and mountains is Tunstall Bay, on the western side.

Jean La Bête (Oliver Reed) arrives in the village to sell his load of furs. Mr. X explains that in 2017, a totem pole erected as a prop for the film was still standing on the beach at Tunstall Bay.
