Tremors

Date: 1990
Director: Ron Underwood
Production Company: Universal

Stars: Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross, Reba McEntire
Location(s): Alabama Hills, California, USA

Region(s):

Storyline:

Nasty “graboids” (large sand worms) live under the desert and threaten to destroy the tiny town of Perfection, Nevada. A slow burner which took off in the video shops, spawned three sequels and created a few internet sites specifically to adore Tremors.

Additional Information:

My enormous gratitude goes to Lone Pine resident Dave Holland, who wrote On Location in Lone Pine, and was kind enough to give a wonderful tour in his 4×4 around the Alabama Hills, with stills, hot coffee and much experience. SJ

Can you help:

If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

Ward and Bacon encounter their first worm.

Seismologist Finn Carter joins the boys.

Not quite the right angle, but the same load of rocks in the background. SJ

Refuge on some rocks, safe from the worms.

Hooray, same rock, like finding a needle in a haystack. SJ

Stuck on a rock above Lone Pine close to Mount Whitney.

Vaulting to safety.

I should have crouched down lower to match this shot, and waited a few hours for the sun to come round but there's the row of rocks to vault. On right of now. SJ

Making an escape by pickup. This area has hosted many films, especially Hopalong Cassidy, early John Waynes, Gunga Din. Visit the Lone Pine Film Museum for more.

A larger group this time. Quite a view.

Ward, Bacon and Carter. Same place as trem013 and 014 and, I think, 001.
