The Lady passenger pays Will Turner (Wilfrid Lawson) the fare before he carries her case to the house. Ray places Will dropping his passenger off at No 76 Carlton Hill, London NW8, noting that whilst the posts and gate have changed the house remains very regal. (RL)

Finding that Mrs. Webster doesn't want the dog returned, Betty takes him to be trained. Cuffley in Hertfordshire, at the junction of Cuffley Hill Road, Station Road and Northaw Road East with the Post Office in the background.

Denis Hoare managed to find his way there to take this slightly widened shot to show retail development beyond the old post office, which is now an insurance brokers. The old signposts gave so much more useful information. (RL)

Betty approaches the entrance.

Finding the gate closed, Betty goes in search of someone who can help.

Returning after weeks of raising the puppy, Betty is told by Terence O'Keefe (Shamus Locke) that there's no room at establishment before reluctantly taking on the job of training Blackie.

O'Keefe explains that there's one more dog before Blackie's trial. Previously just a football stadium, the first greyhound race took place in April 1928.

At the next meeting, the hare speeds past as spectators cheer on the dogs. The west side of Clapton Stadium on Millfields Road E5.

Punters flock to collect their winnings following the race. The betting windows at Clapton Stadium. The footage was reused in 'Now Barabbas' two years later.

Blackie and the other dogs are paraded before the next race. Clapton Stadium closed on 1st January 1974 and was later demolished to make way for the Millfields housing estate.

In a cabman's shelter, Will listens as his workmates discuss the race that Blackie won. Ray has traced Will to the cabman's shelter in Hanover Square, London W1 facing Harewood Place. As Ray points out, and us Londoner's know, Hanover Square has/is undergoing major changes as a result of the construction of the 'Elizabeth Line', so where will that shelter end up? (RL)

After corrupt competitor J.G. Clarkson causes Will to his job following a failed attempt to buy the winning greyhound, Blackie loses the next race. The North Stand at Clapton Stadium on Millfields Road E5.

Told by her father that they can no longer afford Blackie's training, Betty makes her way to see O'Keefe.

Following a string of wins for Blackie after O'Keefe takes on the financial burden, J.G. Clarkson (Peter Bull) walks through the kennels where his dog Chatterbox is running a temperature.

The camera follows Clarkson through the establishment.

Clarkson is met by Joe before entering the Kennel Owner's office and accusing O'Keefe of doping Chatterbox.

In the Dog Training Centre's grounds, O'Keefe whistles to attract Blackie before kidnapping him.

Spectators gather at White City on the evening of the Dog Derby. White City Stadium located off Wood Lane in Shepherd's Bush W12, used from 1927 as a venue for greyhound racing until its closure in 1984.

Will waits for Clarkson in the cafeteria as he's brought from the terraces by Knocker (Gus McNaughton) and his Taxi Driver colleagues. White City Stadium also features in 'Otley', ‘Jumping for Joy’, 'Foreign Exchange', 'Crooks in Cloisters ', ‘Mrs Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter’ and 'The Green Cockatoo'.

After giving Clarkson and his associates what they deserve, Will and his pals return to the course to watch Blackie run in the Dog Derby. This this footage of White City Stadium was reused in 'Clash by Night' sixteen years later. The stadium was demolished in 1985 and the site is now occupied by the BBC Broadcast Centre and this footage is reused in 'Clash by Night'.
