Storyline:
Three teenagers are creeping around an old spooky house when they overhear an apparent bad guy on the telephone making arrangements for some kind of apparent criminal enterprise that will take place between the ‘foxy little creatures’ and the ‘Tyrant King’. Determined to find out what this all means, the children search all of London’s most picturesque landmarks pursued by the sinister-looking stranger that they have dubbed ‘Scarface’ who seems very interested in their activities.
Additional Information:
With thanks to Jules Ballantyne for bringing this film to our attention and for the enjoyable collaboration in establishing the locations. Those not found at the time of publishing were not for the want of research.
The Tyrant King was a six part children’s serial drama by the newly formed Thames Television who wanted to assess the feasibility of a dedicated location film unit, in addition, the full co-operation of London Transport was given in support of their desire to introduce youngsters to the sights and sounds of the capital. ReelStreets do not usually include indoor locations as they can so easily be replicated in a studio but because genuine locations were used throughout, in support of the producers objectives, they have been included in the screen captures.
The film series is available on DVD at a ‘collectors’ price.
Can you help:
If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.
We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

That in turn finds a poster providing the title to the film. The shop to the right that appears to sell catering clothing appears to have a name commencing 'CHAS....' It doesn't take much to jog Dave W's little grey cells but the unique window panes of Paramount Court prompt him to establish the advertising hoadings as being those hiding the vacant site of the former Paramount / Odeon Tottenham Court Road WC1 on the corner with Grafton Way.

Neil Kenny found a momentary break in the traffic to capture the scene following the development of the site.

The trio gets off the bus to visit 'the London Museum'. The Orangery of Kensington Palace, Kensington Gardens, W8

The view seen the original had been closed for years and The Orangery was set to re-open in April 2024. From what I could discern at my way off-angle in Nov '23 the tree avenue has been lost... and so it proved to be in this replacement shot. This is just north of the Sunken Garden with a memorial statue to Diana. SJ

Looking towards Melbury Court and what is now Hollandgreen Place, W8 we see 'Scarfac' walking purposefully.

The forecourt of the former Commonwealth Institute has largely gone with the opening of the Deigin museum in 2016 but Melbury Court remains. SJ

The trio cross the road in hot pursuit. Dave W resolves the mystery of this location. They are crossing Kensington Church Street with York House Place behind them and the boundary wall of Kensington Barracks to the right. LMA 83425 shows it well, just as well as we seem to be in the second phase of redevelopment now.

York Tree House remains on the left, unusually with fewer trees. SJ

Focus once again returns to the Melbury Court/Hollandgreen Place location and more specifically the Commonwealth Institute, the Parabola, the distinctive tent-like pavilion that opened in 1962. Grade ll* listed it is now home to the Design Museum 224 Kensington High Street, W8
