Who Killed Lamb

Following the shooting of Octavius Lamb, a train brings Detective Chief Superintendent Jamieson to Oxford. Looking north on platform 1 at Oxford railway station on Botley Road, Oxford.

After the train comes to a halt, the New Scotland Yard detective alights and leaves the station followed by Sergeant Beck. Oxford station's exit on platform 1.

Detective Chief Superintendent Jamieson (Stanley Baker) and Sergeant Beck (Dennis Lill) head towards a waiting car in which P.C. Hanworth is sitting behind the wheel. A cut finds the police car as it turns a corner on the way to the murder scene. Merton Street at the corner with Magpie Lane seen through the bars of Merton Grove.

The car arrives at Oakhurst Court where an ambulance waits to take the businessman's body away. Dating from 1887, this is Kybald House on Kybald Street in Oxford.

Jamieson and Beck enter the building and climb the stairs to apartment 6. Kybald House provides offices and teaching rooms for University College.

Tris found the scene quite unchanged.

As their investigation continues, Jamieson and Beck visit the hospital where Casson, a motorcycle accident victim, had been brought in during the previous evening. This is the John Radcliffe Hospital on Headley Way in Headington, Oxford.

After a gun is found, Jamieson and Beck make their way to the city centre to speak with Mr. Humber. Looking west on Broad Street in Oxford.

Leaving P.C. Hanworth in the car, Jamieson and Sergeant Beck enter the premises where they discover Mr. Humber dead in the washroom. The white Horse public house on Broad Street in Oxford.

After they are told that Casson had died in hospital, the two detectives head to speak with his landlady, Mrs. Bute. Hertford Bridge, also known as the "Bridge of Sighs", linking two parts of Hertford College over New College Lane, Oxford. The bridge also features in 'Incense for the Damned' and 'Sebastian’.

As expected, Nick Boorman found very little change here.

As the journey continues, a transition shot finds the car on Merton Street.

The police car draws up outside Mrs. Bute's house where Inspector Havelock is already searching Casson's room. Patrick Lavelli identifies Thorncliffe Road in Summertown, Oxford, roughly outside number 47.

Finishing his Wimpy take away in the back of the car, Jamieson tells P.C. Hanworth "OK, lets make an entrance." Facing west on High Street with the spire of the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin in the left distance and Queen's College on the right. The street also features in 'The Mind Benders' and 'The Rake's Progress'.

With the two tone siren wailing, the police car speeds along the narrow road in front of a row of cottages. Brook Road in Great Tew, Oxfordshire.

The camera pans, following the car to where it stops outside the Post Office and General Store. Old Road opposite The Green in Great Tew with The Falkland Arms public house in the right distance. The village also appears in 'Frieda'.

Inside the Post Office, Mr. and Mrs. Lavender are shown a photograph of Octavius Lamb who they recognise as "Mr. Battersby", a man who regularly picks up his mail from them. The Post Office on Old Road, Great Tew near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire.

Discovering that Lamb appeared to be a blackmailer and had made enemies, Jamieson and Beck return to Oakhurst Court. The tower of Merton College Chapel rises above Kybald Street.

Tris peered over the same wall at the chapel tower.

The shot tilts down to find P.C. Hanworth bringing the Detectives' car to a stand. The eastern end of Kybald Street, outside Kybald House.

Bells ring out as Jamieson and Beck arrive to question Professor Friedland about Mrs. Madeleine Lamb. University College on High Street, Oxford.

The two officers approach the entrance to the college accommodation.

Answering the door, the Professor invites the detectives inside.
